Started working in care in 1992 and have worked with vulnerable families, homelessness, elderly, mental health, learning disabilities supported living, nursing and residential, addiction services and domicilliary care.
I had a brief 2 year stint in retail which did not suit me at all as my passion lies with people. Being able to be a part of making another person's life better or improved is so rewarding and a privilege for me and gives me great job satisfaction. Making sure the people we support are living their best life is important to me and I take pride in being part of services delivering high quality care.
As a manager I like to think that I am firm but fair. I like to ensure staff all have good opportunities to develop and enjoy coming to work because they feel valued and respected.
My aim for North Yorkshire is to ensure we are fully recruited and we have a strong management and leadership team. I'm hoping we will see an increase in business over the next 12 months and that staff can feedback that they enjoy working in this team.
In my personal life I have been married for 32 years and have 2 grown up children. Still waiting on grandchildren! I like to spend spare time outdoors as much as possible either walking (lake district or Northumberland) and I have a tendency to do active holidays cramming in a much as possible. I restarted running a couple of years ago and now regularly do parkrun on a Saturday morning with ambitions to undertake further challenges.
